  • 10 Ways To Ease Cannabinoid-Induced Anxiety

Freaking out because you took too much of a given cannabinoid is a very common thing. Just about everyone who has spent some time consuming cannabinoids has had a panic attack where they were sure they were about to be the first weed death on record. Let's go through some strategies to help your anxiety and even avoid this situation in the first place: Tip 1: Take Off Your Damn Smartwatch This is one of the most common mistakes I see modern stoners making. People with smart watches that have automatic heart rate monitors. This very easily leads to a situation where an exciting high elevates your heart rate, causing an alert to go off on your watch. Now the user is staring at their heart rate in real time, with the pretense that “their heart is beating irregularly” which in itself can cause anxiety. This leads to a vicious circle of the user staring at their heart rate going up, which causes anxiety, which makes their heart rate go up. This is something I have first-hand experience with and is a major reason I don’t use smartwatches anymore. The straw that broke the camel's back for me was back in high school when I took a dab in the parking lot of an Albertsons and stared at my heart rate until it was at 212 BPM, at which point I solved the problem by taking off the watch and ravenously eating cold sweet and sour chicken with my bare hands like some sort of deranged street dog. For the majority of the population having a heart rate monitor strapped to your wrist is just a glorified anxiety maker. Tip 2: You Cannot Die From “Forgetting” How To Breathe Another incredibly common mistake newer stoners make is thinking they have “forgotten how to breathe” which manifests when the user takes over their breathing manually and can’t quite figure out how to switch it back to automatic. This was another one that ruined highs for me for years until I realized something. You cannot, no matter how hard you try, die from “forgetting how to breath”. If you did, somehow, forget how to breathe - all that would happen is you would pass out and immediately begin breathing again. You can’t die from holding your breath. Your body knows how to breathe, and the moment you become unconscious your body takes over for you. This comfort can take away all the weight of this issue and you can quickly move on in your mind from it. Tip 3: Bossa Nova Jazz If everything is going wild, putting on some bossa nova jazz can really give you something great and calming to focus on. The reason why I choose bossa nova is because it’s bright and bouncy while remaining slow and meandering. Jazz like this doesn’t repeat in a way that would cause thought loops, instead, it just wanders around in a certain vibe, in no hurry to do anything but soothe you. If you like regular jazz a bit more, try some coffee table jazz, it’s not quite as bright and happy as bossa nova but has that same great meandering element that makes it so great for calm. Tip 4: “Safe” Comfort TV Shows (Sitcoms) This is a great way to get out of a deep thought loop. Throw on an old show that you know inside and out. Make sure it’s a “safe” show, meaning minimal discussion of any heady or sad topics. Some examples of shows like this are: Bob's Burgers, The Office, How I Met Your Mother, Everybody Loves Ramond and George Lopez. Make sure to skip any Halloween or death-centric episodes. Something else to consider, especially if you are very familiar with the given episode, is to put on subtitles and make sure to read them. It will take mental effort but also will be easy because you already know the episode and what is going to be said next. This can put your brain into a very comfortable spot as you read a familiar script with familiar characters. Tip 5: Ask A Friend About Their Day Instead of focusing on the panic and trying to address it directly, sometimes it’s best to just offer yourself pure distraction. Choose your most trusted and understanding friend, call them on the phone, and explain your situation. Tell them, very briefly, about how you are panicking, then, just request to hear about their day. Engage with the story they tell you. This can make panic melt away as you slowly get engrossed in a dialogue with a friend. Usually, by the end of their recounting of the day, you feel a whole lot better. Tip 6: Make Art This is another in the “just distract yourself” category. Try grabbing a piece of paper or opening up Photoshop and just do whatever. Slowly find what the piece is by doing whatever comes to mind and then trying to do something with it. Often you get so wrapped up in what you are doing that you spend the whole high just making art. Tip 7: Masturbate Listen, this is crass, but it’s hard to be upset while you are pleasuring yourself. Beyond that, after completion, you will experience a “coming back down” to the original high, which will now seem less intense by comparison. Sorry, but it’s a very effective strategy and I’d be lying if I said it didn’t work. Tip 8: Minecraft in Peaceful Mode A pretty basic tip - just open a new survival or creative world and build yourself a house or a nice farm. Something simple and quiet. The lack of goals in Minecraft, along with the lack of enemies in peaceful mode, leads to a very relaxing and easy to get lost in the experience. Tip 9: Eat and Drink If you can, get your favorite foods and drinks together and chow down. Not only is food just generally better when you are high, but the intense good flavors will make it hard to be upset. When choosing a drink, make sure to get something nice cold or very hot - the temperature will make the beverage all that more enjoyable and distracting. Pizza, sour licorice, and ice-cold sparkling water are my favorite picks. Tip 10: Sing Choose a song you like, and get to singin’! Similar to the food and drink option, it’s hard to be upset while you are singing a song you like. To keep yourself from being self-conscious, try turning up the music until the singer’s voice is at the same level as yours so you can’t hear yourself too well. If you are able to let go and have fun you can quickly end any panic attack. Choose a “safe” song that isn’t about death or violence if you can help it.

  • How to Make Your Own Infused CBD Flower at Home

What you need Flower of some kind - CBD, CBG, D9 etc Grinder At least 3-4 Grams of flower Slightly runny Wax Stir tool Why The whole idea of infused flower is so ripe for deception, bad practices, and downright scams. For a very similar reason to why I don’t recommend moonrocks, preinfused flower puts you at the mercy of the infuser - meaning you don’t know if they are using solvents to spray, and if they are, you don’t know if they are purging it properly. The blend %’s can so easily be fudged. Making your own with something like this will almost always lead to a better experience. The process is pretty simple Instructions Grind up around 1-2 grams of flower Drip the wax into the grinder, depending on your amount of wax this can be done in stages or different globs Grind up the rest of your weed so it falls on top Open the grider, and slowly reveal more and more surface area, making sure that all newly exposed wax is immediately met with flower to stick to Repeat for a while Once you start seeing many smaller clumps, you can graduate to stirring Pressing on the bud a bit can speed up this last part Done!

  • The Difference Between CDTs, HDTs, and BDTs

There are a lot of different terpenes out there, all derived from different places. Sometimes terpene companies have very overblown statements about how effective they are at steering the high in a certain direction (Ex: “Indica” branded terpenes). However, using terpenes to try and steer your blend is like trying to blow on a sailboat's sail to make it go faster. Using other minor cannabinoids will always produce far more of an appreciable difference than terpenes. For example, to make a blend feel more sedating I would add CBN or CBNo, not “indica” terpenes. Because of this, in my opinion you should be adding whatever terpenes taste and smell the best to you. If you don’t want to, you don’t even need to add terpenes - you truly are not missing out on much other than flavor and smell. With all that said, let's go over the types of terpenes and their strengths and weaknesses. Botanically Derived Terpenes (BDTs) Distilled from various botanical sources - could be flowers, veggies, anything really. Best for “fake” or “candy” flavors like Blue Raspberry or Strawberry Shortcake. Typically tastes more like vape flavoring than cannabis. Usually more fragrant than HDTs or CDTs Usually the cheapest option Usually bad at strain flavor recreation Hemp Derived Terpenes (HDTs) Distilled from hemp Best for “natural” flavors such as lavender, hay, grass, etc. Often fails at creating “dank” smells Seems to be the most hit-or-miss kind of terpene Usually cheaper than CDTs but more expensive than BDTs Usually the least fragrant compared to CDTs and BDTs Usually just ok at strain flavor recreation Cannabis Derived Terpenes (CDTs) Distilled from cannabis Best for “dank” flavors and accurate strain flavors. Varies wildly in quality and price Most expensive Usually more fragrant than HDTs but less fragrant than BDTs Bad for “fake” or “candy” flavors. Not Using Terpenes No viscosity change Most cannabinoids have a subtle flavor of rubber and hay 5 more percentage points to play around with in your blend Least expensive option Not ideal for making carts Can make telling blends apart harder Not as much fun Feels less authentically like weed, if that’s something that matters to you.

  • How to Clean Distillate Off Of Your Body/Hair

If you are a new blender, I have some news for you: You are in for a sticky surprise! When dealing with distillates regularly it is almost a guarantee you will get some on your hands. Also, if you have long hair and dab sitting down, your hair getting caught in disty is also an inevitability. When your hair is long enough to reach the table your dabber is on all it takes is one hair to attach to it to pull it off the table. Before we get started talking about how to deal with this issue, let's talk about prevention for a moment. After all, the best way to deal with a bad situation is by preventing it in the first place. I am going to list some common things that you might do while dabbing that can get you sticky. These are actions that you should try and remain very conscientious of while you perform them. Reaching Across The Table [Hair gets caught in dabber or nail] Overfilling Jars [Hands get sticky as hell] Open jars or loaded dabbers around while blending [Hair gets caught] Advice on getting sticky distillate off your hands. Method 1 - Use hand sanitizer as if it were soap with hot water. Just do your regular hand-washing motions but with hand sanitizer. At first it may be difficult to get your hands to rub together but it will get easier quickly. Pros: Easy, fast and works very well Cons: Some people do not keep hand sanitizer in their home Method 2 - Use butter as if it were soap with hot water This sounds utterly bizarre at first, but makes a lot of sense when you think about it. The THC will bind to the butter and then be washed out by the hot water. Pros: Easy, fast, and works very well. It's almost a guarantee that some will be in the home. Cons: Can be messy and you have to get your hands all buttery. You have to wash your hands pretty thoroughly with soap after Method 3 - Wash your hands in just hot water for a long time This is the most frustrating of all 3 but also requires the least amount of other things. Using water that is almost burning is a requirement. Remember to use paper towels to dry your hands throughout. (See Do's and Don'ts at the bottom of the page for the reasoning). Pros: Requires no other items Cons: Takes a long time, can hurt your hands Advice on getting sticky distillate out of your hair Method 1 - Shower immediately and let hot water melt it off This is the quickest and most straightforward method. It does take a while, but using hotter water than you would be comfortable with and just allowing it to just hit your hair can really speed things up. Pros: Requires no additional tools, nothing gross in your hair Cons: Takes a very long time if you have a good amount of distillate stuck in your hair. To speed it up keep the temp of the shower as high as possible. Method 2 - Do nothing and let it sit overnight, then use a shower with hot water to melt it off. This is what I like to do most of the time. The cleaning process in the morning is far easier and quicker than with method 1. Pros: Requires no additional tools, nothing gross in your hair. When you wait it will spread out in your hair a bit, and by morning it will take a lot less time to get the distillate out of your hair. Cons: No immediate relief, small amounts of distillate may get on things your hair touches. Chance for other items to get stuck in your hair. Method 2 - Use butter and hot water This sounds utterly bizarre at first, but makes a lot of sense when you think about it. The THC will bind to the butter and then be washed out by the hot water. Pros: Pretty fast relief. The butter will bind to the THC and you can rinse it out of your hair. A few washes and rises should do the trick. Cons: You have to put fuckin' butter in your hair. Do's and Don'ts when you have distillate stuck to you: Don't Go around small loose items or powders that could get caught in the distillate Touch anything valuable. You will have to destickify it later Touch other parts of your body Cut the hair off Panic Do Use paper towels to dry your hands, even midway through. Apply pressure when you do this. If the paper towel tears off on your hand, that's ok. It will rinse off and when it does much of the distillate will go with it Use as hot of water as you can

  • Hydrogenated Cannabinoid Potency: S vs R Diastereomer

While hydrogenated like HHC, H4CBD, HHCo, and HHC-P are analogs of THC, there is still more than one diastereomer of each and it’s important to consider them when looking at potency. What is a diastereomer? Diastereomers are different versions of the same molecule that have distinct spatial arrangements of their atoms. They are not mirror images of each other, unlike enantiomers. Diastereomers can have different chemical properties and behaviors due to their unique structures. What are the important diastereomers when it comes to hydrogenated noids? For the hydrogenated noids, the important diastereomers to know about are the S diastereomer and the R diastereomer. It was debated for some time, but it seems to have come to a consensus now, the R diastereomer is the FAR more potent one. What do I look for on the COA? When you open the COA you'll usually see the R% on the top next to the total cannabinoids, but to find both the R and S percentages you can look at the cannabinoid content for the following. 9R-(noid here): 9S-(noid here): Below is an example of a good H4CBD COA that shows S and R%. I have highlighted the R% so you know what to look for when you are shopping. You can see that the total cannabinoid % is indeed not the only number you need to look at. The R diastereomer is 85% and the S is at 13%. Are there any tricks vendors use on the COAs to look out for? One thing to keep in mind is that some less reputable brands have been known to show the S% at the top of the COA instead of the R%. They will do this when the S value is higher than the R value. Many people who do not know the difference will just assume the S value is the one to pay attention to because it is highlighted at the top. Hopefully this answers your questions about the S and R diastereomers and their effect on potency! If you want more info or know of something more leave a message in chat!

  • Blend Guide #5: Recommended Noid Blend Percentages

P-Noids (THC-P, HHC-P, THCP-O, HHCP-O) Recommended percentage range: 5%-10% Minimum for notable effect: 1% Note: with P-Noids I don't recommend percentages over 15% for daily use. Past this point, you start to build tolerance so fast that after a few days you may as well have had it at 5% anyways. Non-Acetylated Main Noids (D8, D9, HHC) Recommended percentage range: 40%-90% Minimum for notable effect: 20% Note: These are the main noids in most blends - they hit quick and get the job done. These are the noids that you will build most of your other blends around. Think of these noids as the main characters in a play, and the rest as supporting roles. Acetylated Main Noids (D8 THC-O, D9 THC-O, HHC-O) Recommended percentage range: 10%-40% Minimum for notable effect: 10% Note: For me the acetylated noids don't taste great and lack the depth of the main noids. Because of that, I like to keep the percentage under 50%. These noids do a really good job of adding some dreamlike qualities to a blend. They also are great for smoothing out harsh blends. Unique Noids (THC-B, THC-H, HHC-H, 8-OH-HHC) Recommended percentage range: 5-15% Minimum for notable effect: 3% Note: These are a bit less potent than THC-P, so plan accordingly in your blend. Main Cnoids (CBD, CBDo, H4CBD, CBG, CBN, CBNo) Recommended percentage range: 10%-40% Minimum for notable effect: 5% Note: These noids are better in high concentration than other Cnoids. Unique Cnoids (CBC, CBT, CBDv) Recommended percentage range: 3-15% Minimum for notable effect: 3% Note: These noids don't need to be in high concentrations to feel their effects. They can make a blend very liquid-y (CBC and CBT, not so much CBDv), so be careful. Terpenes Recommended percentage range: 3-8% Minimum for notable effect: 1% Note: Not all terps will be as strong as the others. Also, mix the terps at room temp if you can to protect them.

PLEASE NOTE THAT CANNABINOID USAGE CAN BE HAZARDOUS FOR YOUR HEALTH.

THIS IS ALL MY OPINION BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE, NOT SCIENTIFIC FACT! THIS IS NOT MEDICAL ADVICE!
