- Quick Dabbing Tutorial For Beginners
Gather materials - Rig, quartz nail, dabber, wax, torch and carb cap - put all within arms reach. Put a dab on your dabber (if it's your first time, use a dab half the size of a grain of rice) Heat the nail until you see faint red glows. Use your wrist to gauge the temp. Hover your wrist over the banger about an inch away, and wait for the heat to build up. When it stops hurting doing that, you are good to go. If that sound kind of arbitrary, its because it is. Measuring dab temp is hard and something you need to have practice at. Once at temp, put the dab in the nail and begin inhaling. Put carb cap on nail, creating a seal. Move carb cap around to increase the surface area of the dab touching the nail. Qtip Done!

- Interviews With People Abroad About the International Cannabinoid Industry
While I don’t have any personal experience outside the US, I talked to a few people who are in the community but outside of the United States. This is what they had to say about the state of the industry in their respective countries. I find it very interesting and thank everyone who agreed to be interviewed! NONE OF THE BRANDS MENTIONED ARE KNOWN BY ME WHATSOEVER. I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT INTERNATIONAL BRANDS ARE OK. DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH. Japan Interviewee - Anonymous Discord User Me: Hello, where are you from? Interviewee: I have been living in Japan the last 15 years. Originally from the states though. Me: Cool! Do you mind if I ask you a few questions about that? Interviewee: I’m a teacher, I like answering questions and talking Me: How did you hear about alt cannabinoids? Interviewee: A friend told me about “legal weed” on Amazon. It took me a while before I looked into and ordered some. Was very pleasantly surprised even though the product listing was sus, which at least had a good review in English. Me: Woah, so your first cannabinoids came from Amazon? Interviewee: Yeah. Crazy. Most of my purchases moved to Rakuten though because they had stable shops open with thousands of reviews. The two from Amazon I got were totally legit though to my surprise. It was like a return home finding THC-H Me: What is Rakuten? Interviewee: Rakuten.co.jp is like Amazon. They might be owned by SoftBank Me: Interesting - are their rules a lot more lax? Interviewee: No. In Japan things are just black and white If it’s legal, it’s legal The rules and laws going on and changing though is very much behind closed doors. Interviewee: There’s probably stuff going on I don’t know about of course. The latest round of bans happened after someone gave out hhch edibles to strangers and they got upset stomachs. Me: Very interesting - how common is alt use? Interviewee: No clue. If you look at me, you wouldn’t think there’s a guy who gets stoned or is cool with it. Also, married with a baby so I don’t get out with a young party crowd. That being said, I have some co-workers/friends that have tried or started about the same time as me. Mostly people who smoked back home. Me: I see - when you say the laws are black and white, does that extend to the real world? As in, could you vape this stuff in public? Interviewee: Well, it’s not just laws, it’s everything. So for example once you officially call a girl your girlfriend she might start staying at your place, or as soon as you’re married the rules of the relationship change. The reason most people think marijuana should be illegal here is because it’s illegal now. So not a moral issue for them, just a rule and people need to follow rules so that everything works. Interviewee: As for vaping in public, as long as it’s legal stuff, and you’re in a smoking area or on the street in your own it should be fine. I usually avoid it if people are around because I don’t want issues if someone happens to recognize the marijuana like smell. Interviewee: Another part of the not vaping in public and a bigger part is not upsetting anyone, so basically people don’t want to smell your smoke. It’s basically a rude thing if people have to smell anything they don’t want to Interviewee: Literally there was a story in the news after HHCH was banned. The officials went into the CBD shop and looked for HHCH. There was none, but there was lots of HHCP now. It seems the store guy was just like, “yeah, this one ain’t illegal so GTFO,”. The officials just left vowing to tackle issue in a more serious way. Me: Are the non-classical cannabinoids still popular over there? (“Spice”, “K2”, “Herbal Smoking Blends, etc.) Interviewee: I don’t think so, but I basically never heard of spice and just looked it up. It seems some of those drugs were made illegal in 2009, so not long after I got here. Me: Thank you for your answers! Sweeden Interviewee: Discord User “Loafer” Me: Do you mind if I ask you a few questions about cannabinoids there? [Sweeden] Interviewee: Not at all! Me: To start, how did you hear about alts in the first place? Interviewee: Some boofbrands tiktok ad im pretty sure. Me: Haha, that’s the way she goes sometimes. Where was your first purchase from? Interviewee: Medvape.com if I remember correctly - either that or some other site like hhcsweden or partybolaget. Me: Cool - What is the cannabis culture like there? Have alt cannabinoids gotten pretty mainstream? Interviewee: It is very frowned upon, the average person who doesn’t smoke or have many friends that don’t really see a difference between a stoner and a methhead, at least thats my experience. Feel like that's different from the US or other places. Interviewee: I’d say between the regular stoners theres a 50/50 split with one half hating on synths and the other half just moving to altnoids while its available. I will say the sale of altnoids have made more younger try “weed” but thats more of an observation from me than actual data. Me: That is very different from the US indeed. Sounds like old war on drugs propaganda from the 90s. Me: Are they selling the alts in stores? Interviewee: Oh yeah, our (fairly freshly voted in) politicians recently said basically “we are not gonna look into making weed legal and we are not changing our minds”, Though some of the youth parties (like forks of politcal parties that are run by teenagers to get them to vote for them when they grow up) are very active in the matter and are trying to push for them to at least look at it. Interviewee: They do sell altnoids in stores, I live in a smaller town so haven’t found any here but haven’t really looked either to be honest. My friend in Gothenburg only buys from smokeshops. Interviewee: Its definitely gotten less frowned upon over the years, but ever since someone talked to loudly about me smoking at the Christmas party half the people at work side-eye me. Me: That’s too bad. Are the non-classical cannabinoids still popular over there? (“Spice”, “K2”, “Herbal Smoking Blends”, etc.) Interviewee: Not anymore, the government banned those pretty quick, and nowadays it's something no one wants. If you bring spice to a party you’re getting kicked out quick. I’m sure there are people still enjoying it here but not at all popular no. People often think of it as an instant heart attack when they hear spice because our government really pumped out “campaigns “(or whatever you call it) about that when it was booming around 2015. I might have the year a bit wrong but yeah, I was never into it. Me: How much of a worry is an alt product being something spiked with a non-classical cannabinoid? Is that something that you’ve heard of happening? Interviewee: When the government announced the ban of some cannabinoids coming the 16th they said there’s been multiple deaths with hhco, which I assume is hhco mixed with something that wasn’t stated on the packaging. But I haven’t looked into it so can’t be sure. Other than that I haven’t heard or seen much about stuff being spiked. I pretty much only bought the same hhc “live resin” carts from medvape until I moved to only buying from a popular US vendor so it hasn’t been a big worry for me. Interviewee: The average person who buys a vape here doesn’t think a second about it being laced or anything, feel like that’s a little better in the US Me: Cool! Thank you very much for your answers. UK Interviewee: Anonymous Discord User Me: To start, how did you discover alt cannabinoids? Interviewee: A lot of research. I hadn’t smoked street weed for that long before I started using alt cannabinoids, maybe like a year. It mainly came about because I don’t want the people who I share a hallway with to smell every time I was rolling or when I smoked since my clothes would stink. I don’t want to cause issues where it can be avoided. I had already been using nicotine vapes for multiple years, so I wondered if I can find vapable weed. So that led down the rabbit hole of dry herb vapes, to me they seemed like to time-consuming. Interviewee: Then I stumbled across Goblin on Youtube, and he reviews different carts and has done some alt cannabinoids. I eventually pulled the trigger on a UK HHC cart from a company called BudMother since my friend recommended them to me. Me: How common have alt cannabinoids become where you live? Interviewee: Not common at all to my knowledge. Most people still smoke bud with tobacco & D8 is still pretty damn rare - UK law is nasty Me: How’s the attitude towards alts among the general stoner population over there? Interviewee: If you take opinions from people like DrewIsSharing he say’s to stay away from alt cannabinoids, I suspect the same for other stoners. I’ve tried to show friends of mine, they they can get HHC in the UK. But they still smoke either bud, or carts from websites which look they are operated by law enforcement. Interviewee: I’d say it’s pretty unknown that alt-noids are a thing among the general stoner population. Me: Are there smoke shops or gas stations that sell alt cannabinoids or is it all online over there? Interviewee: It’s all online. Legally if a smoke shop was caught selling alt cannabinoids they can face prison time. Me: Are non-classical cannabinoids (Spice, K2, etc) popular over there? And is there an issue with alt cannabinoid products getting spiked with them? Interviewee: There was a massive spice epidemic mainly through poorer, and homeless circles. Weed has a pretty standard price of £10 a gram. Interviewee: There was a wave of Spice which flood onto the market, which caused quite a few deaths. To the point where the subject of legalizing weed came into politics. Which doesn’t usually happen. Nowadays, I don’t know. Interviewee: I haven’t a clue whether or not what I am smoking is legitimate. There are no lab tests or anything. Interviewee: A lot of non-classical cannabinoids are going around. JWH-130, JWH-124, JWH-091, JWH-018, and probably others. Me: Interesting. One final question for you - do you think alt cannabinoids have improved your smoking experience? If so, how? Interviewee: 100%. I’ve gotten into some random guy’s van for like a 3.5 in the past, sure he’s a nice honest bloke yet. Being able to order shit to your postbox is next level. Also not stinking of weed when I smoke. I can get blitzed and then just get on with stuff. Interviewee: Sure, I’ve had a rather bad introduction with alt cannabinoids. Due to the prices which I was paying, however the future looks bright. Being able to have a couple of puffs of a vape, rather than finishing a fat joint has significantly improved my life. I enjoy getting high, but I don’t want to impact those around me. So a vape is the best option. Me: Thank you for your answers! France Interviewee: Anonymous Discord User Me: Hello, thank you for reaching out! Interviewee: I’m from France. Ask me WHAT YOU WANT. Interviewee: One cool info, to prevent the ban of THCP some place are selling JWH-018 metabolite sprayed on weed. Interviewee: They are selling the M4 analog and they are calling it M4 . But THC-B and THC-H …. Isn’t banned yet. It’s so sad. Interviewee: I am really passionate I can give you some good real information. No bullshit I love alt noïd so much it was liberating for me you can’t even know. Interviewee: I can have straight disty in my mailbox for a country like France it’s crazy af Interviewee: If you want some legal information I can give you some I know the law better than the shops here, but I feel like an alien nobody listen to me where I live people are calling JWH 018 sprayed bud “CBD” even after you explain that there is NOT the CBD That provide the effect. Interviewee: Sorry English is not my native language Me: To start, how did you find out about alt cannabinoids? Interviewee: I had stopped using weed because here you can lose your license even if you smoked the day before, as simple traces serve as evidence for driving under the influence. So, I had stopped for a year, then I saw a Facebook ad for a CBD shop offering HHC when it was allowed so I bought some . Me: How popular are alts where you are? Interviewee: Hmm popular from 0 to 100 lets say 70 but people think alt noid are CBD and they are lacking education about it they are thinking it’s spice or CBD. Also it’s common to see some real 20% P noid vape with CRD but labeled as 95% THCP. And people don’t care, so shops need to [keep] lying to people about the %. Even the honest one just to keep selling Me: Are alts sold in person like in smoke shops or is it only online Interviewee: Both online and smoke shop Me: Is there a stigma around alts around you or are they seen as the best option? Lesser of all evils type of thing. Interviewee: Not the best option for people because it’s always boof and overpriced and weed is really accessible. The only things that worth it is the vape but again it’s very overpriced: 35€ for 0.5g-1g of HHC is a normal price in CBD shop so people are turning to real weed obviously. Interviewee: But for real you can have some good sprayed but they are starting using distillate gun instead of solvent. Interviewee: But it still not worth it like 10€/g and you can have some mid “cali” genetic of real weed for the same price every 30 km if you buy it illegally. Me: How common of an issue are the more dangerous non-classical cannabinoids? Are they still popular and are some of the alt products around you spiked? Interviewee: Currently, many semi-synthetic cannabinoids are still available, so it’s rare to come across “spice” and other substances like BSJSSBSB-812982. However, it still concerns me that some places might already be selling them, especially considering that new semi-synthetic noids are continually entering the market. The French law is quite ineffective in banning them. I believe a general ban on synthetic cannabinoids derived from phytocannabinoids might be implemented, as banning molecule after molecule seems futile, leading to the development of new “spice” blends.
- Cannabinoid Tier List & Analysis
THIS IS ALL MY OPINION BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE, NOT SCIENTIFIC FACT! -SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM FOR CNOID TIER LIST- This is not a power level chart, this is more about the general enjoyment derived from the noid as well as a look at how effectively each noid can "do it's job" in a blend. S TIER HHCP-O (Video review here) [View cannabinoid info sheet] Strongest/longest lasting Super couch locked, mind slowed, very d9 edible like but stronger Well priced Can vary in quality based on R % values Stands on its own as well as in blends A TIER HHC-P [View cannabi noid info sheet] Very strong/long lasting Can vary in quality based on R % values Varies in price, but can be found at a good one most of the time. Couch lock, chilled out, mind slowed, edible like high THC-C8 [View cannabi noid info sheet] Very strong/long-lasting Extremely stoney and hazy Sedating Very tactile Intense Headband effect Delta 9 (Regular ol' weed) [View cannabi noid info sheet] It's good. I know it, you know it, lets move on. THCP-O (Written review here) [View cannabi noid info sheet] Very strong/long lasting Floaty, dreamlike high. Very cerebral. Well priced D9 THC-P [View cannabi noid info sheet] Strong, lasts quite a while Kind of speedy, creative high Overhyped in marketing (these all are but THC-P was the first one to really go there hard imo) B TIER HHC [View cannabi noid info sheet] D9's hydrogenated counterpart Feels very D9 like, the most so of the base cannabinoids I've tried Power is around 2/3 of D9 with less anxiety Calm and serene feeling D9 THC-O [View cannabi noid info sheet] D8 THC-O's big brother, feels very similar to the relationship between D8 and D9 Dreamy, floaty high - mostly a head high Best when paired with other cannabinoids Slow comeup and comedown Feels just a bit weaker than D9, despite the marketing trying to cram the idea of 3x D9 down your throat THC-B [View cannabi noid info sheet] Strong, about 3/5 potency of D9 THC-P Hits very quick Thick Feels like a Phorol cannabinoid combined with d8 and CBG - good to frontload blends with THC-H [View cannabi noid info sheet] Strong, about 3/5 potency of D9 THC-P Slightly stimulating Head buzz Thick "All over the place" type feeling HHC-H [View cannabi noid info sheet] Strong, about 4/5 potency of D9 THC-P Much more chilled out than THC-H Calming compared to THC-H Spaced out feeling Face tingles C TIER D8 THC-P (Written review here) [View cannabi noid info sheet] Weaker than D9 THC-P, but still strong Feels like the midpoint between D9 THC-P and HHC-P Deeper body stone than D9 THC-P Starting to be found at good prices HHC-O [View cannabi noid info sheet] Same basic effects as HHC, but takes longer to hit and lasts longer A tad stronger than HHC Tastes bad (many compare it to burnt rubber) Best in blends under at concentrations of 30% due to flavor 8-OH-HHC [View cannabi noid info sheet] Incredibly hard to work with - stays solid until around 170f This is one of the cannabinoids that your liver produces when you eat HHC Vaped effects are very similar to HHC edibles, just hits quicker. Strength sits in between the acetates and the H cannabinoids. Overpriced (imo) D TIER D8 THC-O [View cannabi noid info sheet] Some batches taste like vinegar Feels like a dreamlike, floatier version of d8 Needs other cannabinoids to support it Lacks depth Pairs well with D8 D8 THCm [View cannabi noid info sheet] Dreamlike qualities similar to D8 THCo Scatterbrained Hard to think Lacking in body high Needs other cannabinoids to support it Delta 8 [View cannabi noid info sheet] Hits quick Cerebral High Lacks Depth Cheap as hell Needs other cannabinoids to support it Pairs well with THC-O F TIER Delta 6a10a Usually sold as D10 or inside of D10 as it is a byproduct of it's production that is very hard to avoid. (which is the reason D10 isn't on this list, I've yet to see someplace with truly pure D10, no matter what their marketing might have you believe) Gives many headaches Not strong Not worth it at all imo. CNOID Tier List S Tier CBC [View noid info sheet] CBC is a calming potentiator, and also thin, making it great for carts and blends. CBC has a similar calming effect to CBD, but more intense. Very calming Great potentiator Good for making carts CBDo [View noid info sheet] CBDo is a great potentiator and a very unique noid. If you are familiar with the dreamlike qualities of THC-O, CBDo adds much of that to any blend you add it to. It does not cause a high like THCo, but when added to a blend it certainly adds some elements that feel very similar to it. Very smooth and a great thinner. Dreamlike Anxiety Relief Potentiator "All over the place" feeling H4CBD [View noid info sheet] H4CBD is the hydrogenated form of CBD. It's known to be very thick at room temp and the flavor is somewhere between rubber, plastic, and rubbing alcohol - leaving a lot to be desired. Definitely hard on the throat. Just as harsh as D8. You feel H4CBD right in your face and it gives you a large amount of couch lock. Not super great as a functional Cnoid, but great to intensify your stronger blends. Some have reported it as being mildly psychoactive, but far more people do not feel this effect. Couch Lock Calming Face feels "fuzzy" Potentiator Thick, so a good amount of thinner is needed if you want to have a cart with high %'s of H4CBD A Tier CBT [View noid info sheet] CBT is a very unique noid. It feels like no other noid, giving you a very scatterbrained, all-over-the-place type feeling. It also potentiates in a very similar fashion to CBC, just in a far less calming manner. Great thinner as well. All over the place, scatterbrained type feeling Great potentiator Great for making carts CBD-V [View noid info sheet] CBD-V is a great noid for focus without all the stimulation of THC-V or CBG. CBD-V is a more relaxed focus enhancer than CBG or THC-V, making it a good choice for those with anxiety. Focus Potentiator Calming in some, Stimulating in others CBNo [View noid info sheet] CBNo is the acetylated version of CBN. It is even more powerfully sleep-inducing than CBN but takes longer to hit. The onset can be very rapid, causing a lot of drowsiness very quickly. CBNo can also potentiate a blend quite a bit. Extremely sleep inducing Takes a while to hit Helps with anxiety Potentiator CBD-P [View noid info sheet] CBD-P is the phorol version of CBD. It is much stronger and requires far less to be active and lasts longer than CBD too - effects for pain seem to be amazing. I had made a blend for my grandmother's pain issues and it helped but she needed many pills throughout the day. After I added 9% CBD-P to the blend she only needs 1 pill a day and she says it works even better. Little to no recreational value though making the 50-dollar price tag quite hard to swallow, but it's still A tier in my book because of how effective it is. Sad to not see more of it on the market. Very good pain relief Improved balance Moderate anxiety relief Expensive CBN-P [View noid info sheet] CBN-P is the phorol version of CBN and it's the most powerful sleep aid cannabinoid on the market right now. While expensive, it is by far the most effective at its job of putting you to bed and keeping you that way. If I am having trouble sleeping CBN-P usually can solve that problem. Intense sedation Tactile sensations Strong anxiety relief Sexual enhancement Expensive B Tier CBG [View noid info sheet] CBG is a very stimulating noid, so much so that it can cause anxiety in those prone to it. CBG is also a great appetite suppressant, making it a good weight loss helper. CBG is good for focus as well. Stimulating Appetite Suppressant Focus Potentiator CBN [View noid info sheet] CBN is first and foremost sleep-inducing. That is its main role when it is present - however, CBN can also help with anxiety and muscle relaxation. Sleep inducing Help with anxiety Relaxing Potentiator C Tier CBD [View noid info sheet] CBD is the most common Cnoid on the market today. CBD is very good for a wide variety of issues, such as pain relief, help with anxiety, muscle relaxation and much more. CBD is a very versatile noid. Calming Good for pain relief Helps with anxiety Cheap Good Blend Filler D/F Tier In my opinion there are no cnoids that fit the D/F category. They are all good in their own ways.
- Understanding Cannabinoid Naming Conventions
There are many different anologs of THC and CBD and to the uninformed eye, they are just the letters "THC" or "CBD" combined with a mess of numbers and letters. If that's you, don't worry! In this article, I'll explain what all these prefixes and suffixes mean. -O: Acetylated Cannabinoids Examples: THCo, HHCo, CBDo, CBNo Effects: Acetlayed cannabinoids are believed to function as prodrugs, after consumption the body internally cleaves the acetate group to yield the non-acetylated counterpart. This translates to a spacy, dreamlike, feeling with a light body load. Head on a string kind of feeling. Makes high take longer to hit and last longer. Effects come on very gradually. The marketing around acetates suggesting they are "3x power" compared to their non-acetylated counterparts is just untrue. I dose acetates the same way I dose HHC. The lack of any kind of heavy body load makes the whole experience feel kind of incomplete compared to their non-acetylated counterparts, really preventing a good direct comparison. Unique Properties: Long-lasting Very low viscosity distillate (excluding CBNo, which is an isolate) Very effective in edibles Non-phytocannabinoid Notes: The acetylated noids have the most fought-over safety profile - a questionable study from the University of Portland is pretty much the main source of contention. I won't get into all that here, but if you are interested here is a post all about it. Personally, I think acetates are the best in blends at a max of 30%, acting as a thinning agent and also adding some good backend to the high. They are great at enhancing blends, not so much at standing on their own. -P: Phorol Cannabinoids Examples: THCp, HHCp, CBDp Effects: Phorol cannabinoids have very long heptyl tail chains and very high binding affinities. This causes the phorols to be very strong. You may be wondering where the name phorol comes from, as did I, so I asked HighAsDuck and got this explanation: "They're [phorols] named after Spherophorol which is a nickname for heptyl-resorcinol. Without that study that made the nickname, we would probably just call it THC-Heptyl. Once again I must warn you against the "33x" claims. Getting high is not some linear scale that just multiplies like that. That being said, don't underestimate them. It is a good idea to start with a very small dose and then work up. The phorols last a long time and are very very strong. A beginner can easily find themselves in a very uncomfortable place if they don't start small. Remember you can always take more but you can never take less - take your time and understand phorols can take up to 2 hours to start showing effects. Unique Properties: Strong Average viscosity distillate Very effective in edibles Expensive Notes: The phorols do not need to be in high percentages to have a large impact on the blend as a whole. My preference is to have them in blends at 5-15%, but you can feel effects from as low as 2%. -Po: Acytilated Phorol Cannabinoids Examples: THCPo, HHCPo Effects: These are tied for the strongest group of cannabinoids we have access to! Acetylated phorol cannabinoids have very long tail chains and very high binding affinities just like regular phorols, but with the longer-lasting and more "floaty" nature of acetates. Just like the acetates, phorol acetates are believed to function as prodrugs - after consumption, the body internally cleaves the acetate group to yield the non-acetylated counterpart. Unique Properties: Longest-lasting Strongest Dreamlike Very low viscosity distillate Very effective in edibles Most expensive Not a phytocannabinoid Notes: Just like the regular phorols, acetylated phorols do not need to be in high percentages to have a large impact on the blend as a whole. My preference is to have them in blends at 5-10%, but you can feel effects from as low as 1%. H- / H4- : Hydrogenated Cannabinoids Examples: HHC, H4CBD Effects: Hydrogenated cannabinoids are often praised for their calm nature. Hydrogenated cannabinoids are around the same strength as their non-hydrogenated counterparts. Hydrogenated cannabinoids are very body-load heavy and are often the cannabinoid of choice for those with anxiety. It's important to note that total noid content isn't all that matters when it comes to hydrogenated cannabinoids, the specific diastereomer matters as well. To put it very shortly, R is what you want, but you really should read my whole post on it here. Unique Properties: Very calming Shelf stable Very high viscosity distillate Notes: Hydrogenated cannabinoids are some of my favorites! Both HHC and H4 make great base cannabinoids for blends. I hope to see more soon. -B: Buytl Cannabinoids Examples: THC-B Effects: Very quick acting and feels about 3/5ths as strong as THCp. The quick come up is also accompanied by a quick come down. In my experience, THCb will last an hour or so. Unique Properties: Short duration Fairly strong Quick come up Quick come down Very viscous distillate Expensive Notes: THC-B is currently the only buytl cannabinoid on the market. It is very unique for both its duration and power. I enjoy THC-B at 5-10% in blends. Adds a lot of front end and is great when paired with a phorol cannabinoid. A great novelty for sure, but a hard value proposition when the phorols are stronger and usually cheaper. -H: Hexyl Cannabinoids Examples: THC-H, HHC-H Effects: The hexyl cannabinoids are a favorite for many due to it having many of the good qualities of both THCp and THCb. I would describe hexyl cannabinoids as the midpoint between phorols and butyls in terms of strength, effects, and price. Unique Properties: Strong, about 4/5 potency of D9 THC-P Slightly stimulating Head buzz Very viscous "All over the place" type feeling Expensive Notes: I like the hexyl cannabinoids at 5-15% in blends. They are a group I need to explore more, I only have 2 blends containing hexyl cannabinoids. Like THCb, they are a fun novelty but a hard value proposition when the phorols are stronger and usually cheaper. -V: Varin Cannabinoids Examples: THCv, CBDv, HHCv Effects: The varins are known for being the most energy-affecting of the cannabinoid groups. Varins can be found in relatively high amounts in sativa plants. (1-5%). Unique Properties: Stimulating (in the case of THCv and HHCv) Calming (in the case of CBDv) Focus Appetite Suppression (in the case of THCv) Very viscous distillate (CBDv is an isolate, however) Notes: The varins have very high melting temperatures and are therefore a bit annoying to blend. I find the varins work best at 5-15% in blends. Combined together with D8 and CBG, varins make an amazing morning time blend. 8-OH- / 9-OH- / 11-OH- : Metabolite Cannabinoids Examples: 8-OH-HHC, 10-OH-HHC Effects: The two examples are all the metabolites on the market currently. A metabolite is what your liver turns edibles into. Metabolites are generally much more slowed, couch lock-inducing, and eye-blurring than other noids. All this being said you can get this chemical for much cheaper by just eating HHC. Unique Properties: Ability to "smoke and edible" A bit stronger than D9 Expensive Novel Notes: Currently, the state of metabolite cannabinoids is a bit sad. It's $30/g and beyond the novelty of smoking edibles it's not super worth it as I find the ideal blend percentage is around 15-20%. However, if for whatever reason you can't have edibles, this is for you. Sometimes they are written out like #-HO instead of #-OH -M: Methyl Ether Cannabinoids Examples: D8 THC-M, HHCPm Effects: Cannabinoids currently available with a methyl ether group tend to be a bit scatterbrained and hard to think on in a way that reminds me of CBT. They also tend to have a dreamlike haze that reminds me of the acetates a lot. Unique Properties: Very thin distillates Scatterbrained, hard to think Novel Dreamlike haze Notes: Very similar to the acetates in terms of the effects it tacks onto whatever cannabinoid it’s bound to. Overall there aren’t a lot of scenarios where I would go for a methyl ether over an acetate.
- My Experience With The Downsides Of Psychoactive Cannabinoid Use
I love using cannabinoids and have no intention to stop using them, but to call it a harmless pastime is just a lie. We must understand the risks around cannabinoid usage so we can mitigate the harm as much as possible. In this article, I will discuss the downsides of cannabinoids I've experienced and then talk about a paper that references this issue. This is not an exhaustive list, it's just a few of the downsides I've experienced in my life with cannabinoid and cannabis usage. Mental Addiction Personal Anecdote: You can get mentally addicted to anything but with something like cannabinoids the path to addiction is extremely easy. There are some serious benefits to cannabinoids generally lacking the ability to kill you, especially the not dying part, however, there is a downside. Without a hard limit, people tend to push cannabinoids into dosage areas they would never dream of with a more dangerous drug. I know I've been guilty of this. It is not uncommon to find someone who needs a gram a day just to feel a bit high, as the urge to curb your usage to prevent yourself from going over the edge is non-existent. The lack of danger can easily lul someone slowly but surely into being a person who does nothing but smoke weed all day. Is that going to kill you? No. But it might dull your social or work life significantly. Studies and Scientific Evidence: Paper: Cannabis Addiction and the Brain: A Review Results and important passages: "After examining the acute and long-term effects of cannabis, CUD appears to conform to the general patterns of changes described in the Koob and Volkow model of addiction. Previous preclinical and clinical studies indicate that features of the three stages of drug addiction described by Koob and Volkow are also present in cannabis addiction (Fig. 1), although these findings may not be as robust as other drugs of abuse." "As described in the Koob and Volkow model (2016), most drugs of abuse result in the hyperactivation of the mesocorticolimbic dopaminergic reward pathway in the binge-intoxication stage of addiction. This hyperactivation seems to be present in cannabis addiction but to a lower extent." "Nonetheless, as with other drugs of abuse, chronic cannabis use still results in blunted dopamine reactivity to a stimulant challenge (Volkow et al. 2014c; van de Giessen et al. 2017)." "This blunted stimulant-induced dopamine reactivity has been associated with negative emotionality (Volkow et al. 2014c) a key feature of withdrawal/negative affect stage described by Koob and Volkow (2016). With the addition of withdrawal as a symptom of CUD, it is evident that the development of cannabis addiction parallels addiction to other drugs of abuse. In addition, chronic cannabis use has been associated with affect dysregulation that may involve changes in amygdala functioning (Filbey et al. 2013; Heitzeg et al. 2015; Spechler et al. 2015). As with other drugs of abuse, cannabis seems to disrupt HPA axis function (Somaini et al. 2012; Cuttler et al. 2017), another key neuroadaptation of the withdrawal/negative affect stage described by Koob and Volkow (2016)." "Although further research is necessary (Box 1), the findings summarized here indicate that neurobiological changes in CUD seem to parallel those in other addictions, albeit to a lesser extent in some brain systems." Eyesight Personal Anecdote: While I use psychoactive cannabinoids, especially in high amounts my vision can get a bit blurry. I will also say that after almost 12 years of cannabinoid use my baseline vision is a bit worse than when I was a kid, however, that could be just normal deterioration due to age as it's not a very significant difference. Also, I will note that staring at one spot or reading can be more difficult while using cannabinoids as I find it hard to keep my eyes in one spot. Studies and Scientific Evidence: Paper: Effects of cannabis on visual function and self-perceived visual quality Results and important passages: "The paired t-test (or Wilcoxon test) indicated lower binocular visual acuity and poorer mean contrast sensitivity after smoking cannabis, with this deterioration being significant at the spatial frequencies 0.75 cpd (z = − 2.724; p = 0.006) and 12 cpd (z = − 3.234; p = 0.001) (Table 1, Fig. 1)." "The intraocular straylight also increased significantly (approximately 9%) after cannabis use (Table 1). As a consequence, the participants perceived more halos, resulting in higher VDIs. Figure 2 shows the graphs pertaining to the Halo software for one participant at the baseline session and after smoking cannabis. After smoking cannabis, the participant presented a greater number of undetected peripheral stimuli (red), resulting in a greater halo area and, therefore, a higher disturbance index. This worsening was found despite the pupil size being the same under the two conditions (5 mm)." "Cannabis use also significantly affected the participants' three-dimensional vision, as we found a significant deterioration of stereoacuity at the two distances evaluated. A number of studies have shown changes in three-dimensional perception caused by cannabis use due to so-called binocular depth inversion illusion." "In summary, this study shows that smoking cannabis has significant adverse effects on certain visual functions, including visual acuity and contrast sensitivity, as well as in nighttime-related visual parameters such as the VDI and intraocular straylight" Lung Issues Personal Anecdote: I think anyone who has smoked weed for many years has had a few times where they gave themselves a minor lung injury. When I first started smoking I was taking bong snaps over and over every night, then waking up in the morning and coughing out dark brown fluid with a wheeze in my chest. That was my first introduction to cannabinoids injuring me. Another time I was hurt by cannabinoids when taking gram dabs of the wrong blend. I took a gram dab of a high D8 and H4 blend last year which made me permanently retire from gram dabs. I had a very intense wheeze for a few days. Are these permanent injuries? Usually no. But they do suck and could cause lasting damage that shows back up down the road. Studies and Scientific Evidence: Paper: Effects of marijuana smoking on the lung Results and important passages: "Regular smoking of marijuana by itself causes visible and microscopic injury to the large airways that is consistent associated with an increased likelihood of symptoms of chronic bronchitis that subside after cessation of use. On the other hand, habitual use of marijuana alone does not appear to lead to significant abnormalities in lung function when assessed either cross-sectionally or longitudinally, except for possible increases in lung volumes and modest increases in airway resistance of unclear clinical significance. Therefore, no clear link to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease has been established. Although marijuana smoke contains a number of carcinogens and cocarcinogens, findings from a limited number of well-designed epidemiological studies do not suggest an increased risk for the development of either lung or upper airway cancer from light or moderate use, although evidence is mixed concerning possible carcinogenic risks of heavy, long-term use." "Several studies (Table 1) have compared responses to respiratory symptom questionnaires in samples of regular marijuana smokers with responses in age-matched nonsmokers of marijuana, controlling for concomitant tobacco smoking. One study examined a convenience sample from Los Angeles County of 144 habitual (near-daily for >5 yr) smokers of marijuana alone (MS), 135 habitual smokers of both marijuana and tobacco (MTS), 79 regular tobacco-only smokers (TS), and 97 nonsmokers of any substance (NS) (mean ages, 31.6–37.0 yr) (17). In the smokers of marijuana alone, tobacco alone, or marijuana plus tobacco, the prevalence of chronic cough (18–24%), sputum production (20–26%), wheeze for at least 3 weeks/year (25–37%), and at least two prolonged episodes of acute bronchitis during the previous 3 years (10–14%) were significantly higher than in the nonsmokers (P , 0.05), but no differences in the prevalence of cough, sputum, or wheeze were noted between smokers of marijuana only, tobacco only, and combined smokers of both marijuana and tobacco." "Regular use of marijuana causes airway injury leading to symptoms of chronic bronchitis in some smokers but no physiological or high-resolution computed tomography evidence of emphysema. Despite the presence of procarcinogenic components in marijuana smoke, a limited number of appropriately performed and analyzed epidemiologic studies have failed to demonstrate an increased risk for either lung or upper airway cancer in association with marijuana smoking, although evidence is mixed regarding the risk of heavy, long- term use. The immunosuppressive effects of THC and reports of bacterial and fungal contamination of marijuana imply an increased risk of pneumonia." Using Cannabinoids at a Young Age Personal Anecdote: I started smoking weed when I was 14 years old. This was a mistake. I often wonder just how less fucked up my brain might be if I didn't do drugs back then. I have memory issues, attention issues, motivation issues, and other random bullshit that likely was at the very least not helped by my frequent weed usage while I was still a kid. If you happen to be young and reading this, first of all, get off this site oh my god, and second of all, PLEASE JUST WAIT. Weed is not going anywhere, but your youth is. The choices you make as an adolescent have the potential to shape your entire future. Don't use weed to fast forward through the pain and the boredom of being a kid. That time is incredibly important for your growth into a functional adult, even though it hurts at times. Make something of yourself first - then smoke weed if you want to. You'll be happier for it. I'll leave you with the best anti-weed speech for kids I've ever heard, said by Randy Marsh in an episode of South Park. "Well, Stan, the truth is marijuana probably isn't gonna make you kill people, and it most likely isn't gonna fund terrorism, but, well son, pot makes you feel fine with being bored, and it's when you're bored that you should be learning some new skill or discovering some new science or being creative. If you smoke pot you may grow up to find out that you aren't good at anything.” Studies and Scientific Evidence: Paper: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4138809/ Results and important passages: "Research on regular marijuana use highlights a unique susceptibility of the developing adolescent brain to adverse neurocognitive and psychiatric outcomes. Although studies have not firmly established causality, onset of regular marijuana use in adolescence is associated with later decline in cognitive function, as well as with adult onset of psychosis and anxiety. Educational and employment outcomes may be poorer among regular marijuana-using adolescents. A number of other adverse respiratory, cardiovascular, endocrine and gastrointestinal associations with regular marijuana use have also been established. Good screening tools and promising brief intervention and behavioral treatment programs are available to clinicians, who are in a position to identify problematic marijuana use among adolescents and refer for services." "The adverse health effects associated with marijuana are myriad, and adolescents demonstrate particular susceptibility to long-term neurocognitive and psychiatric changes from chronic marijuana use." Psychoactive Cannabinoids Can Destroy Your Motivation Personal Anecdote: I can hear the keyboards warming up now telling me "Well I smoke all day every day and I'm great at my job." Listen, I don't doubt that - I write a lot of what you read on here while I'm using cannabinoids. I wrote an entire book while using cannabinoids ABOUT cannabinoids. They are not a death sentence for your productivity, however, in my experience, it's a bit like running a race with ankle weights on. Can plenty of people perform at a high level in a race even with 15lb ankle weights? You betcha, but that doesn't mean ankle weights are good for winning races. You can get better at running with ankle weights, but that doesn't mean they still aren't hindering your overall performance. There are some potential exceptions to this like the varins which can greatly improve focus, but generally speaking, psychoactive cannabinoids inhibit my ability to think clearly and critically at the highest level I can. For some people that's no issue, but it's something to really pay attention to, especially if you are a frequent user. Studies and Scientific Evidence: Paper: Non-Acute Effects of Cannabis Use on Motivation and Reward Sensitivity in Humans: A Systematic Review Results and important passages: "We also reviewed evidence to answer the question, “Is there evidence that decreased motivation among cannabis users is unique to the use of cannabis (rather than to use of any addictive drug)?” As shown in Table 1, 12 of the reviewed studies accounted for the influence of use of substances other than cannabis, such as alcohol and nicotine. Several of these studies found significant associations between use of other substances and motivation." "Additionally, we reviewed findings regarding causality to answer the question, “Is there evidence suggesting a causal relationship between cannabis use and motivation?” As seen in Table 1, only two of the studies reviewed were longitudinal in design and thus better able to examine causal relationships. Martz et al.(2016) found that continued cannabis use was associated with blunted activity in the nucleus accumbens during reward anticipation even after controlling for an exhaustive set of confounds, including baseline nucleus accumbens activation. Pre-existing differences in accumbens functioning, on the other hand, did not predict later cannabis use. A longitudinal study by Lac and Luk (2018) found similar results: after controlling for confounds, being a cannabis user predicted lower self-efficacy at a later time point, whereas self-efficacy did not predict later cannabis use. Thus, there is evidence suggesting a causal relationship between cannabis use and reduced motivation and reward sensitivity." "Neuroimaging studies focusing on the effects of cannabis on reward sensitivity have consistently found differences in activation of reward areas of the brain in cannabis users relative to controls. Although studies vary as to whether they conducted ROI or whole-brain analyses, most found alterations among cannabis users in striatal areas, particularly ventral striatum, as well as frontal areas including the cingulate, thus implicating parts of the salience network. Alterations in this network among users suggest that cannabis use may alter how attention is allocated to rewarding stimuli and/or drug-related cues (Menon, 2011)."
- Cannabinoid Strength Tier List & Comparison
THIS IS ALL MY OPINION BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE, NOT SCIENTIFIC FACT! This is a comparison of the strength of different psychoactive cannabinoids. This is based on a combination of my personal experience and binding affinity, and as such should not be taken as gospel. Everyone is different, for example, a few people have said that H4CBD got them the highest they've ever been. This is just a good way to get an idea of their relative power at a glance.

- Mega-Dosing Guide and Discussion
I feel that most stoners reach a moment where they'd like to take an insane dose of cannabinoids at once. Whether that be through an absurdly strong edible or an enormous dab there is a certain "stoner's call-of-the-void" that lives in most of us that only takes an excuse like 4/20 or 7/10 to answer. This is your guide to megadosing. First, let's talk about who SHOULDN'T be doing megadoses. People who have been using cannabinoids less than one year People who are prone to cannabinoid-induced anxiety People who have recently done a megadose It's quite likely that many people reading this right now are megadosing daily and are either unaware of it or simply don't care that they are doing it. In my opinion, this is nothing but a waste of money and a huge mistake. This is not a condemnation of those people who want to consume cannabinoids all day, but rather the way they are doing so. If this is you, I highly recommend you take a peek at the article I wrote: Cannabinoid Tolerance Management Tips - you can use these methods to smoke all day and still maintain a reasonable tolerance. What even is a "Megadose"? I think there are 2 different but equally viable definitions for a megadose. The first is simply a dose much larger than your own usual dose. It is a relative term that means different things to different people. For some who get blasted off 15mg of D8, taking 100mg might be considered a "megadose" for them. In general, if it's a LOT more than your normal dose, it's what I'd call a "megadose"' The more common definition of the term that is more pervasive in drug culture usually refers to a megadose relative to the "average user's" tolerance. Most of the time these doses are based around round numbers - for example, with D9 THC the most common "megadoses" you will hear about are 500, and 1000mg. You can often find these kinds of pre-made products marketed with the gusto of a 13-year-old boy describing how cool a monster truck rally is. There is certainly an amount of social credit a megadose gets you within the stoner community, especially among a less experienced or mature crowd. Even with the older folks who have been smoking for longer, it is hard to shake the bit of an ego boost you get from showing everyone your insane dosage. At the end of the day though, it really isn't anything cool or impressive - getting really high is not exactly a difficult talent to have, despite what the stoner who won't shut the fuck up about his gram dab might have you believe. So, what is a good "Megadose" for Each Cannabinoid? Firstly, I would avoid almost any marketed "megadose" product out there. The best-case scenario is you get something overpriced, but more often than not you are going to be getting an underdosed product. I will be giving these numbers based on the SECOND definition I gave of a megadose - a very large dose compared to the average user's tolerance. For you, these numbers might be different. My goal here is to hit the sweet spot of being stupidly high without wasting money. These doses are enough to get the average stoner extremely high. THESE DOSES ARE GOING TO FUCK YOUR SHIT UP, OBVIOUSLY. BE SMART. UNDERSTAND YOUR LIMITS.
